Civilization Has A History Of Repeating Itself.. But Will It Go As Far As WWII?
I ask this question to you my "readers" or "simply myself" because it is often something that I think about a lot.
I want to talk about the current issue of Palestine and Israel.
We have Palestine pointing a finger at Israel for the deaths and calling it a genocide. Yet (HAMAS) is purposely using human shields for public outcry around the world.
We are seeing the hate towards Israel and the Jews and as a result it feels like we have gone back in time instead of it being 2024.
If we look at history we learn that even before the Holocaust, Jews in Europe were subjected to antisemitism and often violence.
During the first 6 years of dictatorship under Adolf Hitler, Jews were feeling the 400 decrees and legislation that affected every aspect of their life.
After WWII Jews that had fled and came back to their home were met with hate and blamed for all the pain and suffering that Adolf Hitler had subjected on the world.
So much so that they were beaten and even killed.
Yet the year 2024 we are seeing protests happening around the world.
Jewish businesses are being subjected by hate.
Societies are bending its knee to appease the Pro Palestinian group under the pressures of possible violence or loss of clients if they don't.
Holocaust sites online have made it clear that there is zero tolerance for antisemitism and for good reason. As such they are losing followers by the droves for doing so.
Recently where I live a play about Israel was cancelled because of public outcry. Outcry from a Pro Palestinian group.
It is not the first and it wont be the last event that involves anything Israel related to be cancelled.
Civilization has come so far as a whole but when it comes to antisemitism have we not learned from our mistakes of the past?
We have been seeing miss information shared across all sorts of platforms of social media over the years.
Miss information that really is just someones views and not factual that spreads like wildfire.
From anti vaccines to famous people sharing their view that the holocaust was fake.
It is becoming a problem because more people are believing what they are reading. And without fact checking and or simply turning a blind eye.
Civilization has become numb to injustice.
People prefer to stand by and watch with it recording on their phones.
People prefer to follow the crowds then think for themselves, than walk the roads less followed.
And what I am referring to is all the social movements over the last 10 years such as LGTBQ,#METoo, and etc. where people without doing their own research just follow the crowd because it seems to be right even if it is not.
Now do not get me wrong, I do not disagree with many of the movements. But I have an issue when one side is acting all righteous and society is supposed to bend because of it.
But following what seems popular does not make it right and in fact it can become dangerous. Especially when a society is afraid of "offending"
So tell me when does a minority become a majority?
How far does the world need to go before we cross a line?
Will it be too late before we realize we cant go back?
Because civilization seems to be forgetting history.
If you disagree just know that Antisemitism was at the foundation of the Holocaust. Antisemitism, the hatred of or prejudice against Jews, was a basic tenet of Nazi ideology. This prejudice was also widespread throughout Europe.
